Everything you need to get started with ScanDesk.

Getting Started

Choose a destination folder

Click "Choose Folder…" in the top bar to select where scanned PDFs will be saved. Your choice is remembered across restarts.

Connect a camera

Select a camera from the Camera menu. ScanDesk supports iPhones via Continuity Camera or USB, built-in webcams, and external cameras.

Scanning

How do I scan a document?

Point your camera at the document and press the Space bar (or click Scan). ScanDesk automatically detects edges and corrects perspective.

Quick Mode

Enable Quick Mode (hare icon) to scan, save, and immediately return to the camera — perfect for processing a stack of receipts.

Auto vs. Manual detection

Auto mode (wand icon) detects document edges automatically. Switch to Manual (crop icon) to drag a crop rectangle over the preview.

OCR — sender & date

After scanning, ScanDesk reads the document and pre-fills the sender name and date. You can edit these before saving.

Multi-Page PDFs

How do I create a multi-page PDF?

Click the Multi-Page button to start a session. Press Space for each page. When done, click Save — all pages are combined into one PDF.

Can I cancel mid-session?

Yes. Click Cancel at any time to discard all captured pages and return to normal mode.

Camera Setup

iPhone via Continuity Camera (wireless)

Both devices must use the same Apple ID, have Bluetooth and Wi-Fi enabled, and your iPhone must be locked. The camera appears automatically in the Camera menu.

iPhone via USB

Connect with a Lightning or USB-C cable and confirm "Trust This Computer" on your iPhone. The preview may appear rotated — scans will be correctly oriented.

Camera not showing up?

Click Refresh Cameras in the Camera menu. For Continuity Camera: check that Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are active on both devices.

File Naming

How are files named?

Files are saved as YYYY-MM-DD_Sender_Receipt.pdf. ScanDesk uses OCR to detect the date and sender from the document automatically.

Can I edit the name before saving?

Yes. In Normal Mode, edit the Sender and Date fields before clicking Save.

What if a file with that name already exists?

ScanDesk appends a number (e.g. _2, _3) to avoid overwriting existing files.

Licensing

How long is the trial?

ScanDesk is free to use for 7 days. After that, a license is required.

How do I enter my license key?

After purchase you will receive a license email. Open ScanDesk and look for the license activation prompt, or visit scandesk.app for instructions.

Where can I buy a license?

Visit scandesk.app and click "Buy License" — €9.99, one-time purchase, free updates.

Updates

How do I update ScanDesk?

Go to ScanDesk menu → Check for Updates. If a new version is available, click Download Update to open the download page.

Are updates free?

Yes. All future updates are included with your license purchase.
